![]() Sedrick made great strides throughout the books. I just wish he could have remained himself while keeping the relevant knowledge. So sad that he drowned in Tellator's memories, even though having a battle-trained militant veteran is a huge bonus for their new little community. Tbh he reminded me of myself I can be sweet and optimistic to the point that more grounded people think I'm an airhead, but I'm not. Turns out it was a good idea not to get pregnant yet, since any offspring would need Sintara's guidance, and she's not always the most accommodating. Stealing kisses and doing a little fondling after you've already told the guy you won't sleep with him is NOT teasing. Her decision to remain abstinent because she didn't want the possible consequence of pregnancy was totally reasonable. I liked Tats in general but on the other hand, the boys pestering Thymara about sleeping with them was horrible. And then the way she was so distraught over having wings lol. I think she still loved her, in her own conceited dragonish way. Sintara was so vain that she had no thoughts or patience for humans, and she had enough brain power and independence that she didn't develop as much devotion as, say, Heeby. Sintara and Thymara both obviously had vastly different personalities from the other dragons and keepers, it makes sense that their relationship would be different as well. ![]() The way she kept trying to leave Sintara because she didn't feel like their bond was as strong as the other dragon/keeper bonds. I can see why she thinks the way she does but she makes the total opposite decisions than I would sometimes. Thymara irritated me, in the same way Fitz can irritate me. Sedrick saw an angry, hateful stare while I think it was Thymara? who saw his eyes as wise and gentle. It was fun to see how different people interpreted his eyes. There's obviously so much more to him than we'll ever get to know. I know that's part of his whole deal, but still. Alise started out very hard on herself and I loved seeing the way she came to love herself, Leftrin, and her new role in Kelsingra. But Leftrin turned out to be such a great character and a standup gentleman. But he turned out to be a huge narcissistic psychopath (and I mean those terms literally, by their medical definitions, not just empty insults). He was so sure of himself and I instantly liked him. In Liveship Traders, Kennit seemed so charismatic when he was introduced on Others Island. It's funny, when Hobb introduced a new liveship captain, I was wary of him. Reading about Leftrin and Alise was a balm to my heart. I know some people say they find the first 2 books boring but I enjoyed them. The dragons' journey and development - both physical and mental - was really intriguing to read. Don't get me wrong, there's hardship, but I didn't have to set the books down to cry. Okay so I loved this series! People talk about needing a break after Tawny Man and I agree, but Rain Wilds IS a break! I was so glad to finally read something that wasn't tragic.
